Loooooong Hiatus

Right, I painted all my 20 Saurus, need to finish off the skinks. Ive decided to change my previous 1000 point force a bit. Still need to buy the book, might do that some point next week.

Right now lets go through the different phases of the game.

Movement

This list is quite mobile. You have a flying skink of doom (FSOD) flying 20" a turn and march blocking, war machine hunting, mage killing an being a nuisance. You have a slow core of 2 saurus units but fast flankers in the Salamander and the skinks that can draw units into combat with the Saurus. The Chamo skinks are very mobile and will hinder the enemies movement immediately as they are scouts. The Cohorts are there to take a table quarter and maybe do some redirecting from charges.

Magic

Again I have no offensive or defensive magic. Magic heavy forces can be a big problem for me but I have a FSOD to kill some mages (KB is very nice) and I also have some Chamo skinks that can mage hunt. One Saurus unit is protected from Magic Missiles (due to the Mirror Shield) and I may screen the other unit with skirmishers if its a magic heavy list.

Shooting

This army has more than the previous one. I may give the FSoD some kind of missile weapon to take advantage of his BS5 but points are scarce. The skirmishers will add some firepower when the battle lines meet as they can dish out 20 Poisoned shots a turn which can decimate a unit. The Chamo skinks will be very important as they can whittle down units before combat commences, take out warmachine crews and attack units shooting at my saurus. The Salamander will make a big difference with its -3AS to cavalry and also it causes a panic check on just one wound. This can fracture my enemys battle line, helping me win.

Combat

This unit is still a Combat list. The 2 units of saurus can put together 50 S4 hits (not including Scarvet with 4 S7 attacks). That can seriously beat down on an army. The skinks can be servicable flankers (taking away rank bonus will help CR a lot) and the Salamanders will be better off shooting but can scrap a bit as well. The FSoD now has KB which makes killing easier (on a 6 to hit it auto-wounds and if AS is failed they die) esp wizards and can take out a warmachine crew on his own. The chamo skinks are there to shoot but if needs be can charge a unit of archers/war machine crew and tie them up for a few turns.

Cost

This is a bonus. I can convert a Saurus into a ScarVet if needed and the Chamo skinks can just be regular skinks with a different paintjob (I was thinking some kind of black camouflage). This means all I have to buy is a box of saurus, a Terradon and a salamander. This saves money and makes use of more of the models I own. On http://www.giftsforgeeks.org.uk/ that would come to £31.50 (plus P+P). This is pretty cheap.

Im gonna put this list on both LOs (Lustria Online and Librarium Online) and see what feedback I get.

New Year, New Book

So my ineptitude at painting, girlfriend's loathing of geekiness and lack of money had completely destroyed my idea of a lizardman force. But I have turned over a new (geekier) leaf and with the new Lizardman book I will have more impetus to finally get a force bigger than 180 half painted points.

So the new changes to the Lizardmen book:
Slann are cheaper but are still pretty good, if not as durable
Carnies are no large targets to Old Bloods are stil good
TG now special, ItP and Stubborn if with Slann, cheaper
Skink "cohorts" cheaper and can have Krox
Skink skirmishers more expensive
Saurus cheaper
Krox got nerfed - S6
Terradons cheaper and different
STEGADONS ARE SPECIAL
Engine of the Gods (kick ass priest upgrade)
Salamanders have changed
New "Razordons" are basically new salamanders.

So how this will affect my army choices:
Slann is still the Lord choice I want, but now it is cheaper (woop)
NEED to get a stegadon with EotG. Means you can have lvl3 caster at <2000 points!
Potential for fast moving army of skinks + Krox instead of plodding Saurus
Need TG for my Slann
Potential use of small Terradons unit
Krox units dont seem to be as good.
Magic items are generally unimpressive.

I will put up a few "Idea lists" that will be 1000 - 1500 points. I doubt if anyone has ever read this but it will give me a good few ideas to build off of.

1500 Points

Right, here is my 1500 point army list. It builds on the 1000 point list and the whole point of this is to make sure I dont have to buy too much stuff I wont use (like when I played Dark Angels when I was 14 and bought a chaplain, a librarian and a commander...).

Pretty similar tactics to 1000 points. JSOD in smaller saurus unit to begin with before leaping out. General in other saurus unit. Krox and Salamanders on each flank. Skinks screening, flanking, marchblocking etc. Skink Priest will almost definitely have to use the Diadem defensively so he will stay at he back and not die.

Ive come up with some slightly different schemes for the Krox and Salamanders. The Saurus and Skinks are Orange with Black scales, the Salamanders will be yellow with black scales and the Krox can be red. Kinda sticking with the same Lava theme but they are different species so they should be different colours. In my opinion of course.
